CIR demonstration slated for Sept 21 - 25, 2008

In order to show the public how the CIR process works, we will be running a full demonstration of the CIR process this fall. HDO's goal in running the demonstration at this point in time is to provide an opportunity to answer common questions about the process, run a full evaluation of our proposal, and really begin the discussion in earnest about making the CIR an official part of our initiative process.

The CIR demonstration will be held in Salem from September 21st through the 25th. We're going to follow the key design principles for the CIR every step of the way -- from randomly selecting a cross section of Oregon voters to having the panelists evaluate the fairness of the process once it's over -- and will be providing the results of this first run of the CIR here on our website, and with a little luck through the media as well. In doing so we also hope to provide a very valuable public service for voters across the state.

In order to select the measure to be reviewed we're going to be relying upon our supporters to decide. So if you haven't done so already (and you like the CIR), please sign up today and make your voice heard.

We'll keep you posted on our progress right here on our blog. As always, thanks for checking out our work, and please send along any feedback.
